GIRLS SOCCER: Monday's roundup

MCCONNELLSBURG 1, WINDBER 0 >> McConnellsburg battled the weather conditions and Windber and came away with a 1-0 non-league girls soccer victory over the Ramblers on Tuesday.

"It pretty much rained the whole game and at times it was blowing so hard the rain was sideways," Spartan coach Toby McGarvey said. "The girls played a pretty good game of soccer tonight. This was our biggest win of the season – Windber was fourth in the rankings, so this will help us."

The game's lone goal came 19 minutes into the first half. Michaela Kendall gained possession in the defensive end and carried the ball across midfield. She split the seam with a pass behind the defenders and Alexis Mellott ran onto the ball and knocked in a shot from just inside the 18.

Kellyn Perry preserved the shutout for McConnellsburg (6-8) with seven saves.
