CHAMBERSBURG >> Chambersburg's girls soccer team suffered a heartbreaker on Thursday night.
Despite a very evenly-matched Mid Penn Commonwealth Division game, the Trojans gave up a penalty kick and fell to Red Land, 1-0.
"The contest was evenly played, and we stayed focused after the early PK conversion," Chambersburg coach Eric Guyer said. "We had a good offensive push for a large portion of the second half, but couldn't get the equalizer."
Rhyan Socash scored the only goal of the game for Red Land just 10:38 into the contest.
Chambersburg (5-6-1, 4-5 MPC) managed eight shots, compared to 10 for the Patriots. Megan Cottingham had six saves in net.
"Despite the loss, it was nice to see the team bounce back from Tuesday's match (an 8-1 loss)," Guyer said. "Ashlynn Swanger did a real nice job in her defensive role tonight."
