GIRLS SOCCER: Tuesday's roundup, Chambersburg beats Mifflin County behind Isabella Weigel's 5 goals

CHAMBERSBURG >> Chambersburg's girls soccer team scored its first goal 15 seconds into the game on Tuesday evening, and it was just a sign of good things to come.

Led by striker Isabella Weigel, the Trojans ambushed Mifflin County in a 7-0 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division victory.

Right off the bat, Claire Jacobs found Weigel to give Chambersburg (3-1-1, 2-0 MPC) a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Gabriella Lecuona put the Trojans up 2-0, and she assisted on Weigel's second goal to give the home team a 3-0 lead at the break.

But Weigel wasn't done. She scored three more times in the second half to finish with five for the game, and Cirsten Kelly added the other second-half score.

"The girls came out focused after the half and had some really nice combination play," Trojan coach Eric Guyer said. "Our defense did a fantastic job of keeping Mifflin County out of their defensive third."

Chambersburg out-shot the Huskies 11-1 and had seven corner kicks, compared to just two for Mifflin County.
