ST. MARIA GORETTI 7, CUMB. VALLEY CHRISTIAN 0 >> A young Cumberland Valley Christian boys soccer team took a hit in its season opener on Thursday, falling to St. Maria Goretti in a non-league contest.

The Blazers (0-1) were out-shot 17-5, and the Gaels jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead.

"We're a young team and we're still trying to find ourselves," CVC coach Stan Hott said. "We are still trying to figure out where everyone fits, and hopefully we can build on our second half tonight."

Christian Hott finished with 17 saves in goal for CV Christian.
