GIRLS SOCCER: Monday's roundup

CV CHRISTIAN 2, GRACE 1 >> Cumberland Valley Christian scored a penalty kick in the first half to break a 1-1 tie in a weather-shortened Mason-Dixon Christian Conference win over Grace Academy.

The Blazers (2-3, 2-3 MDCC) got on the board first when Emily Rice found Marcella Carannante for a goal. Grace was on the attack often and knotted the score at one, but Karlee Kipe knocked in a penalty kick off the goalie's hands to propel CV Christian to a win.

"We got a great finish by Marcella from about 20 yards out, and Karlee stepped up and scored what turned out to be the game winner," CVC coach Paul Lundy said. "Maddie Keck was awesome in goal for us tonight. Grace dominated in attacks, but we held firm when it counted most."

Grace outshot the Blazers 13-10 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
