GIRLS LACROSSE: Thursday's roundup, Chambersburg 4-goal run keys victory over CD East

CHAMBERSBURG 12, CD EAST 7 >> With the game tied 3-3 in the first half, Chambersburg scored the final four goals before half and used that cushion to defeat Central Dauphin East 12-7 in a Mid Penn Conference game Thursday.

"Away games are tough after a long bus ride, but the girls played with intensity and speed," Trojan coach Katie Feairheller said. "They did a great job working together. Alyssa Boock did a great job in goal (14 saves) and made several key saves."

Maggie Nichols broke the 3-3 tie, and Kaylea Garman, Abby Wilmot and Kendyl Stewart extended it.

Wilmot and Emily Glennon each totaled three goals and an assist for Chambersburg (2-2, 1-2 MPC). Avery Rife put in a pair of goals and Liza Ernst also hit the net.

Feairheller said, "Wilmot (5) and Ernst (3) did well winning the draws, which put the attack in position to score. Garman led the defense with four ground balls and she and (Madison) Schmus, (Carle) Covert and Ernst were able to effectively stop and crash on their drives.

"Rife, (Lexi) Stoner and Wilmot possessed the ball in the midfield and were successful on transitions. Some of the girls have played together now for two or three years and it shows in their play. Our attack as a whole this year is a lot stronger and more versatile."
