CROSS COUNTRY: Thursday's roundup, Mercersburg girls win IPSL crown

MERCERSBURG WINS IPSL >> Mercersburg Academy girls cross country team won the Independent Parochial School League title on Thursday.

Mercersburg had five top-10 finishers, with Kate Hastings earning the top finish for the Blue Storm, coming in second with a time of 21:14. Sydney Hirokawa was close behind, finishing with a time of 21:41 for a fourth-place finish.

Ryan Geitner came in seventh with a 22:26 finish. Finley Setwart came in ninth with a time of 22:47 and Anna Mele rounded out the top-10 with a finishing time of 22:52.

"We have worked so hard this season and it was fun to see how proud they were of their accomplishment and winning the trophy," Mercersburg coach Betsy Cunningham said.

The Blue Storm will move on to the PIASSA Championships to be held on Oct. 31.
