GIRLS: Wednesday, JB takes down Northern


DILLSBURG - After losing four games in a row, James Buchanan's girls basketball team got back on track Wednesday night.

The Rockets scored at least 15 points in each of the first three quarters en route to a 54-38 win over Northern York in Mid Penn Colonial Division action.

"This was a much-needed win tonight," JB coach Jen Lauthers said. "The girls fought hard, and it was a great team win. It was good to see some things come together."

James Buchanan (8-11, 5-7 MPC) was led by Rachel Martin and Tristen Amsley, who each had 15 points. They both nearly notched double-doubles by pulling down nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

Charity Miller finished with 12 points and four steals. Aspen Anderson also grabbed four steals and dished out four assists.

Mercersburg 75, Washington, W.Va. 38: Mercersburg Academy won its sixth straight game with a non-league victory over Washington.

Molly Taylor scored 14 points in the first period, and the Blue Storm (12-2) led 31-8 after the first quarter. Taylor finished with 28 points, including six 3-pointers, and Tori Yoder contributed 20 points and nine rebounds.
