GIRLS: Monday, JB wins with strong defense

BIGLERVILLE - James Buchanan collected 29 steals on its way to a non-league girls basketball victory over Biglerville on Monday night.

“We picked up on our defensive pressure and made some transition buckets,” Rockets coach Jen Lauthers said.

Charity Miller led JB (7-7), which won its third straight game, with 16 points, while Rachel Martin added 11. Miller led in rebounding with 10, and Tristen Amsley contributed seven steals and four assists.

The Rockets led early, but trailed 33-30 heading into the final quarter, in which they outscored the Canners, 17-5.

Lauthers said, “We started hot, then cooled way off. Biglerville hit some key shots and kept the pressure on us all night. It was a good way to start the week.”
