GIRLS HOOPS: Wednesday, McConnellsburg downs Chestnut Ridge

McConnellsburg 64, Chestnut Ridge 42 >> McConnellsburg's girls basketball team got off to a bit of a slow start Wednesday.

But the Spartans scored 44 points in the second half, which was more than enough to take down Chestnut Ridge in a Sideling Hill League game.

"This wasn't a flawless win, but we'll take it," McConnellsburg coach Brent Seville said. "We got off to a sluggish start but were able to keep our composure and made better decisions in the second half."

Bronwyne Mellott had her first double-double of the season for the Spartans (2-2, 1-2 SHL), finishing with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Justice Seville had a fine night from beyond the arc. She had a trio of 3-pointers and totaled 17 points.
