Greencastle falls to Milton Hershey

After a pair of Week 1 losses, the Greencastle-Antrim and Milton Hershey football teams looked to make a statement Saturday afternoon in a non-league game in Hershey.

But after a 41-3 loss to the Spartans, the Blue Devils (0-2) are still searching for their identity. 

Milton Hershey's high-power offense was too much for Greencastle to handle, running up a 27-3 score in the first half, and did not slow down from there. 

Greencastle's Ian Gelsinger made a 29-yard field goal late in the second quarter to get on the board, but two unsuccessful trips to the red zone in the second left Greencastle out of breath. Milton Hershey added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter for good measure. 

The Spartans had 476 total offensive yards, compared to 106 yards for Greencastle, which had just six first downs. Blue Devil quarterback Cade McDowell threw for 49 passing yards, going 5-for-18 and an interception. McDowell also led the team on the ground with 33 of the team's 57 rushing yards. Greencastle ran the ball 29 times.  

A majority of Milton Hershey's damage was done on the ground, with 288 rushing yards on 36 attempts. Quarterback Keonte Lucas ran for 155 yards on 12 carries.
