The lights went out in Mercersburg on Friday night at Rocket Stadium.
And that caused a suspension of the Fairfield at James Buchanan football game. It will be picked up at the point it was halted at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Fairfield holds a 15-0 lead with 3:24 left in the first period and will have the ball when play resumes. No admission will be charged.
James Buchanan athletic director Larry Strawoet said, "The electricity went off before we had some storms come in. We're not really sure why, but it might have had something to do with the extreme heat we're had.
"I'm thankful for Fairfield and all our fans who were so cooperative. For a situation that you don't really prepare for, they were great. And Jim Bard and his officiating crew were fantastic, too."
Charlie Burnett got things started quickly for the Knights when he returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Damian Mort then ran the ball in for a two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead.
The next time Fairfield took possession, it drove down and scored again, this time on a 15-yard run by Mort, who also kicked the extra point.
The Rockets had been held without a first down and had fumbled the ball away once.
