H.S. FOOTBALL: Week 7 area previews

Mid Penn Colonial Division

Game data: Greencastle (5-1, 1-1 MPC) travels to Mercersburg to battle James Buchanan (0-6, 0-3 MPC) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Greencastle is coming off a win over Hershey last week, bouncing back from its only loss. Led by quarterback Spencer Meyers, who has 887 total passing yards, the Blue Devils are productive in the air, while Demetrius Burton poses a threat on the ground with 532 yards.

JB is still searching for its first win, as the team has struggled on both sides of the ball. The Rockets have put just 12 total points on the board and have utilized four different quarterbacks, totaling 288 passing yards. Seth Carbaugh leads James Buchanan with 300 rushing yards. JB's opponents have averaged more than 45 points against it.

Mid Penn Colonial Division

Game data: Shippensburg (4-2, 1-1 MPC) takes on Northern York (5-1, 3-0 MPC) in Dillsburg, Friday at 7 p.m.

Shippensburg is coming off a close 31-27 win over Waynesboro, which ended in unbelievable fashion. Cole Friese had a spectacular game, with season-high 68 yards rushing, and scored the game-winning TD with 34 seconds left on a kickoff return. Friese and Zion Ware, who has had two 180-yard games on the ground, could be the Hounds' biggest threats, and if QB Tyler Gustafson can connect with his younger brother Cody down field, Ship will find success.

Northern York is coming off an exciting 17-10 victory over Big Spring, in which running back Bobby Shelly was the standout, with 31 carries for 171 yards and the game-winning TD.

Mid Penn Colonial Division

Game data: Waynesboro (3-3, 0-2 MPC) welcomes East Pennsboro (5-1, 3-0 MPC) to Buchanan Auto Park Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m.

Waynesboro fell to Shippensburg last week despite a last-minute offensive push, but remains winless in the Colonial. If the Indians hope to earn their first win in the division they must utilize Jake Wertz, who has 435 yards rushing. Quarterback Brady Riddell has 890 passing yards, favoring Matt Peck, who has earned 342 receiving yards this season.

East Pennsboro is coming off a dominating 69-0 win over James Buchanan last week, led by Onasis Neely, who had 128 yards and two touchdowns in just five carries.
