H.S. FOOTBALL: Week 6 area previews

Mid Penn Colonial Division

Game data: James Buchanan (0-5, 0-2 MPC) travels to Enola to take on East Pennsboro (4-1, 2-0 MPC) on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Rockets are struggling on all fronts and have scored only 12 points this season. They are coming off a 32-6 loss to Big Spring. JB has utilized two different quarterbacks this season with Dillon Sanders starting the year and Remi Spoonhour playing last week. But the team has only 228 passing yards on the season. The biggest bright spot has been Seth Carbaugh, who has rushed for 280 yards. Defensively, Caden Ficks leads the team with 41 tackles, and Carbaugh has 39.5.

On the flip side, the Panthers have proved themselves to be a contender in the Colonial Division, as they are coming off a big win over Greencastle-Antrim. Offensively, they are a dual threat. Quarterback Kyle Purnell has thrown for 723 yards, while Onasis Neely has also thrown for 193 yards out of the wildcat formation. On the ground, the Panthers have racked up 1,011 total yards.

Non-league game

Game data: Greencastle-Antrim (4-1) will visit Hershey (2-3) for a Saturday showdown at 7 p.m. at Milton Hershey School. The Blue Devils are looking to bounce back after a tough loss against East Pennsboro, 20-16.

The Blue Devils have proven themselves as having a prolific offense. Quarterback Spencer Meyers leads Franklin County with a completion percentage of 60.4 percent. He has thrown for 742 yards, eight touchdowns and only three interceptions. Demetrius Burton leads the ground game with 446 yards, and James Hines follows closely behind with 379 yards. Kyrin Zimmerman just surpassed 100 rushing yards last week, and Derek Measell also boasts 176 yards on 23 carries.

The Trojans, on the other hand, have only 673 yards of total offense. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Nerino is 9 for 19 for just 224 yards. Jess Nwabuezeogbo has been basically the entire load on the ground. In fact, he has 435 yards, while the rest of the team has a total of negative-seven yards. Defensively, Joe Brittain has been the biggest standout, totaling 23 tackles, including two for a loss.
