Roundup: Blue Devils earn narrow win vs. Big Spring


GREENCASTLE 1, BIG SPRING 0 >> Greencastle earned a narrow Mid Penn Colonial victory over Big Spring (9-9, 5-3 MPC) thanks to goaltending and corner defense, Saturday.

Greencastle goaltender Mackenzie Oberholzer had 13 saves, and along with the Blue Devils defensive unit, stopped 13 Big Spring penalty corners to earn the shutout.

"They were a huge reason we won today," Greencastle coach Becca Farson said. "The girls gave a great effort in a game we had to have. We were able to withstand a flurry of corners from Big Spring late in the second half."

Racheal Marconi had Greencastle's lone goal, assisted by Lauren Cole in the second half.

The Blue Devils (9-7-1, 5-3 MPC) are ranked 15th in Class AA, where the top-20 teams make it to the playoffs. Greencastle has one game remaining in the regular season.
