Roundup: Chambersburg blanked by State College


STATE COLLEGE >> Chambersburg field hockey was shutout by State College on Thursday in a 3-0 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division loss on the road.

"The difference maker was their goalie (Shelby Querry) in the second half," Chambersburg coach Jen Amsley said. "She is the best goalie in our division. We started slow and they took it to is in the first half."

Chambersburg fell to a two-goal deficit in the first and attempted to generate momentum after halftime. The Trojans (7-8, 5-7 MPC) did not register a single shot in the first half, but turned around to send eight shots to Little Lions goaltender Shelby Querry. They also attempted seven of their nine penalty corners in the second half.

GREENCASTLE 2, RED LAND 1, OT >> Greencastle-Antrim field hockey earned a hard-fought 2-1 overtime victory over Red Land in a non-league game.

The Blue Devils (6-5-1) contained Red Land's offense to force overtime, and midway through overtime, Lauren Cole scored on a forceful drive to the cage. Senior Sabrina Martin earned the assists on both Greencastle goals.

"I'm really proud," Greencastle coach Becca Farson said. "The girls gave everything they had again tonight after playing a hard game of overtime."

Mackenzie Oberholzer stopped six Patriots attempts as the Blue Devils out-shot Red Land 13-6.

SHIPPENSBURG 2, EAST PENNSBORO 1 >> Shippensburg field hockey beat East Pennsboro Thursday 2-1 in a non-league game. Courtney Coy and Kourtney Shoap each had unassisted goals for Ship in the first half.
