Tuesday's roundup, Chambersburg outlasts Cedar Cliff, 2-1

HIGHLAND PARK >> All of the scoring came in the first half and Chambersburg got the best of Cedar Cliff in a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division field hockey game on Tuesday afternoon.

The Trojans scored the first two goals and managed to beat the Colts 2-1.

"The girls were tired today from Monday night's late game, so we were not at our best," Chambersburg coach Jen Amsley said. "Most of the play from both teams was midfield play (only seven total shots on goal)."

The first goal came on a penalty corner by Jordyn Amsley, who inserted to Rachel Dusman. Her shot sailed toward the right side of the cage and Amsley had gotten to that post and was able to redirect the ball with her stick and into the cage.

Less than five minutes, the Trojans (7-7, 5-6 MPC) made it 2-0. Liza Ernst fired a reverse stick shot and Hannah Raines deflected it past the goalie.

The Colts (4-10, 3-8 MPC) scored about a minute later on a breakaway by Olivia Dalby.

Jen Amsley said, "We went in spurts tonight, but when it came down to it we were able to execute when we needed to execute. We had only four shots on goal and scored on two of them, so I would say that's pretty good execution. Hannah Raines, Madison Schmus and Jessa Corwell had good games on defense tonight."
