FIELD HOCKEY: Wednesday's roundup, Greencastle-Antrim rolls through Shippensburg

GREENCASTLE >> Greencastle-Antrim's field hockey team came out firing on Wednesday, and it never let up.

The Blue Devils scored two goals in the first four minutes and kept the momentum rolling in a 6-0 Mid Penn Colonial Division win over Shippensburg.

Racheal Marconi got Greencastle (5-5, 3-2 MPC) on the board just over two minutes into the game with an unassisted goal, and less than a minute later, Tori Russell scored on a Lexie Sibbio assist to put Shippensburg (4-4-2, 2-3 MPC) behind 2-0.

"Today we showed what we can do when we play 60 minutes of intense field hockey," G-A coach Becca Farson said. "Once again we had a variety of girls putting the ball into the cage because we are working as a team."

The Devils added another goal before halftime to go up 3-0. With a 5-0 lead late in the game, Sibbio and Lauren Cole worked the ball up field with give-and-go passes to get a two on one against the goalie. Cole then sent a strong pass that led to a Sibbio finish to make it 6-0.

Greencastle racked up 22 shots and had 15 penalty corners. Mackenzie Oberholzer needed just four saves to preserve the shutout.
