FIELD HOCKEY: Saturday's roundup

FORBES ROAD 9, WAYNESBORO 0 >> Waynesboro just couldn't handle the offensive firepower of Forbes Road in a non-league field hockey loss Saturday.

The Maidens (0-9) got a stellar effort from goalie Abi Fuller, who racked up 18 saves, but the offense managed only one shot.

McKenzie Gelvin paced the Cardinals (8-2) with four goals, two of which came on breakaways. Brittany Truax finished with a pair of goals, and Kiersten Cline had a goal and four assists.

"I thought the girls put on a clinic," Forbes Road coach Carol Cline said. "We had such awesome execution. The girls love playing on a turf field, so we took advantage of that great new facility. The low temperatures also helped a lot, and the girls really enjoyed their day."

Lillie Wilt scored her first goal of the season, and Malea Truax also put one in the back of the cage.
