FIELD HOCKEY: Chambersburg capitalizes on penalty corners in win over Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO >> Chambersburg field hockey coach Jen Amsley has stressed the importance of penalty corners to the Trojans all year.

Chambersburg showed it's been listening on Wednesday, scoring on four of its eight penalty corners in a 7-0 non-league win over Waynesboro.

After Rachel Dusman got the scoring started with an unassisted goal eight minutes into the match, Kaylea Garman capitalized on a pair of penalty corners to make the score 3-0. Dusman and Jordyn Amsley had assists on both goals.

Molly Keefer scored with just under 10 minutes left in the half to give Chambersburg (4-5) a 4-0 advantage at the break, and the Trojans kept rolling in the second half.

With a little more than 20 minutes left, Chambersburg scored its third goal off a penalty corner when Liza Ernst assisted Amsley, and four minutes later, Garman capped off a hat-trick on another penalty corner, which was assisted again by Ernst.

Garman's hat-trick was the first for Chambersburg since 2008, when Chelsea Amsley accomplished the feat.

Ernst then assisted on the final goal, hooking up with Rachel Dusman.

Jen Amsley said, "We had a nice, balanced scoring attack today. The girls played together as a team and had some nice passing and give-and-goes. Our corners were super today."

The Trojans racked up 25 shots on goal while holding the Maidens (0-8) to just one. Abi Fuller had 15 saves in goal for Waynesboro.
