FIELD HOCKEY: Chambersburg overcomes first-half deficit for victory over Greencastle

GREENCASTLE >> Chambersburg was held scoreless in the first half of Friday night's non-league field hockey game.

Despite facing a 1-0 deficit after the opening half, the Lady Trojans came back with a vengeance. They scored three goals in the second half to capture a 3-1 victory over Greencastle-Antrim.

"It was a total team effort with the heat today," Trojan coach Jen Amsley said. "We had several kids involved in the scoring, which shows just how much of a team effort it was. Greencastle deserves a lot of credit, though. They have really improved."

Chambersburg (1-0) scored three goals in quick succession and had six different players involved in the scoring. Sydney Kegerreis, Kaylea Garman and Hannah Raines each scored once, while Madison Schmus, Rachel Dusman and Molly Keefer were the helpers.

"Chambersburg is always a tough team for us to start the season," Greencastle coach Becca Farson said. "They are well coached and disciplined. I felt the teams played a fairly even game in terms of shots and possessions. We looked really good early on, but they were just the better team late in the second half and cashed in on their opportunities."

Lauren Cole was the lone goal scorer for the Blue Devils (0-1).
