BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Chambersburg loses momentum in loss to Cumberland Valley

NEW KINGSTOWN >> Chambersburg's boys volleyball team got off to a hot start, but it wasn't enough in a 3-1 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division loss to Cumberland Valley on Tuesday night.

The Trojans (2-5, 2-3 MPC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-16 victory in the first set.

Chambersburg coach Marta Cummings said, "We started the match strong and with confidence, and we put a lot of pressure on them with our serves."

But things turned around quickly for the Bald Eagles. Cumberland Valley responded with a 25-18 win in Set 2, and after a 25-23 win in the third, it closed the match out with a 25-16 win in Set 4.

"We got a little lax in Game 2 and dug ourselves a whole we couldn't get out of," Cummings said. "It wasn't the finish we were hoping for, but the effort was there."

Billy Russo and Landon Miller each had five kills to lead Chambersburg, and Ian Patterson had 16 assists. Evan Hoke racked up 13 digs, while Patterson and Aaron Hoke each had 10. Evan Misal chipped in with 12 service points.
