TOM PEPPERNICK, Fannett-Metal, senior: From the start of the season to the end, Peppernick made a name for himself this year ... He won the discus at the Tim Cook Invitational to begin the season and captured a second-place medal in the event at the PIAA Class AA Championships to end the year ... At the District 5 Championships, Peppernick hurled the discus 169-1 to break the district record by more than six feet, and he also claimed the district gold in the shot put.

PETER HUGHEY, James Buchanan, senior: For the second year in a row, Hughey claimed a gold medal at the District 3 Class AAA Championships ... At districts this year, he finished with a time of 48.12, which broke his own school record in the 400 ... Hughey also added an eighth-place medal in the 100 at districts and was fourth in the 400 at the PIAA Championships.

KELTON CHASTULIK, Chambersburg, sophomore: Chastulik collected a slew of medals this year ... He started by winning gold medals in both the discus and the shot put at the Mid Penn Conference Championships ... He then earned a fourth-place finish at the District 3 Championships with a throw of 149-4 in the discus ... Chastulik finished the season with the area's best shot put throw (52-5).

LIAM OKAL, Greencastle-Antrim, junior: Okal surpassed expectations by collecting a pair of medals at the District 3 Class AAA Championships after earning spots in the finals of both the 100 and 200 dashes ... In the 100, he finished in sixth place with a time of 11.38 before earning a fifth-place medal in the 200 by clocking in at 22.43.

JOSH BOOTH, McConnellsburg, freshman: Booth had a fine debut season for the Spartans, capturing a gold medal in the 300 hurdles at the District 5 Championships to earn a trip to states ... He had a time of 41.62 in the event, and he also earned a silver medal in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.51.

JORDAN TURNER, Shippensburg, senior: Turner broke a longtime Greyhound record in the 300 hurdles at the Mid Penn Conference Championships ... He clocked in at 40.47, which broke a record that had stood since 1982, and earned a bronze medal ... Turner then placed 14th at the District 3 Championships in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.80.

ZACH GREENAWALT, Shippensburg, senior: Greenawalt had a season that will go down in the Greyhound record book, literally ... Early in the season, Greenawalt broke Ship's school record in the pole vault four times in five meets ... His best clear of the season came against James Buchanan, when he sailed over the bar at 13-7.

NATE LONG, Chambersburg, senior: Long advanced to his first-ever PIAA Championships after capturing fourth place in the javelin at the District 3 Championships ... At districts, Long had a throw of 177-4, and he then finished 11th at the states, marking in at 173-4 ... He ended the season with the area's best throw in the event (182-1).

Danny Shapiro: Mercersburg Academy, senior, throws.

Christopher Payne: Waynesboro, senior, pole vault.

Logan Taylor: McConnellsburg, senior, hurdles.

Chase Varner: Southern Fulton, sophomore, middle distance.

Steven Glodek: Fannett-Metal, junior, distance.

Campbell Parker: Greencastle-Antrim, sophomore, throws.

Kendall Keepler: Chambersburg, senior, jumps

Camry Huff: Waynesboro, senior, jumps
