TRACK & FIELD: Saturday's roundup, Chambersburg girls win Cedar Cliff Relays


HIGHLAND PARK >> Chambersburg's girls track & field team scored 88 points to win the Cedar Cliff Relays on Saturday.

The Trojans got victories from both their distance medley relay and discus teams.

Kaylee Mowery, Madison Swain, Cassie Essis and Abby Yourkavitch teamed up in the distance medley relay, finishing in 12:49:00 to earn first. They were nearly four seconds ahead of runner-up Northern York.

Jahyah Barbour and Reagan Winebrenner had a combined discus throw of 189-1 for the win. Barbour hit a mark of 96-7, and Winebrenner added a throw of 92-6.

Sammi Lowery and Abby Zeger placed second in the pole vault by clearing a combined 19-0, while freshmen Jaelynn Walker and Faith Wenrich combined for a high jump of 9-10 for second place.

The Lady Trojans also captured second in the 4x200. Cirsten Kelly, Miana Harrison, Camryn Greenlee and Maya Washington clocked in at 1:46.7.

Chambersburg placed third in the shuttle hurdles (Robyn Gaurriello, Alex Reel, Racheaelann Klink and Hayley Nolan), 4x100 (Kelly, Rachael Berman, Greenlee and Harrison), javelin (Katie Carbaugh and Barbour), shot put (Winebrenner and Carbaugh), triple jump (Atachnee Julsaint and Jocelyn Kibbe) and 4x400 (Kelly, Swain, Berman and Harrison).

On the boys side, Myles Braxton and Kelton Chastulik had the best finish for the Trojans. They took first in the shot put with a combined throw of 89-9.

Chambersburg also took second in both the discus and the triple jump. Nery Grodiano and Chastulik teamed up to chuck the discus 279-0, and Jake Russo and Nathan Reed claimed second with a mark of 78-9 in the triple.

Chambersburg also got third-place finishes from the distance (Chris Wurtz, Kevin Madrigal, Alex Aquino-Flores and Tanner Amsley), 4x200 (Kendal Keepler, Christian Ortiz, Caleb Thompson and Kory Harris) and 4x100 (Ortiz, Keepler, Tyler Fritz and Harris).
