TRACK & FIELD: Monday's roundup, Chambersburg easily sweeps Central Dauphin


LINGLESTOWN >> The Chambersburg girls and boys track teams had an easy time extending their winning streaks to four on Monday by trouncing Central Dauphin in a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division meet. The girls won 120-30 and the boys took a 103-47 nod.

For the girls (4-2, 4-2 MPC), Miana Harrison won the 100 and 400, and Abby Yourkavitch took the 800 and 1,600. Other Chambersburg winners were Robyn Guarriello (100 H), Cirsten Kelly (400), Ashley Fuentes (300 H), Kaylee Mowery (3,200), Reagan Winebrenner (shot put), Jahyah Barbour (discus), Jocelyn Kibbe (long jump), Kira Monson (high jump) and Sammi Lowery (pole vault).

Trojan girls coach Chris Monheim said, "Harrison and Kelly both looked really good, even though they ran some different events today. They've been holding down the sprints really well. Kira Monson won the high jump for her first win and cleared five feet for the first time."

The boys' double winners came in the field events – Kelton Chastulik took the shot put and the discus, and Jake Russo placed first in the long and triple jump. Also taking wins for the Trojans (4-2, 4-2 MPC) were Noah Shatzer (110 H), Alex Aquino-Flores (400), Ali Brown (300 H), Alex Hayden (3,200), Kendall Keepler (high jump), Evan Vink (pole vault) and Nate Long (javelin).

"Kelton had a fantastic day and had a five-foot improvement in the shot put (52-5," Chambersburg coach Bob Walker said. "Jake had a personal best in the triple jump (40-11.5), and Alex's time in the 200 (2nd in 23.5) was his best ever. Alex Hayden got his first win, and it was nice to get Ali Brown back in the lineup."

MCCONELLSBURG GRABS 2 SWEEPS >> McConnellsburg picked up wins over Southern Fulton and Fannett-Metal in boys and girls in an Inter-County Conference meet, while SF defeated F-M in both meets.

The Spartan boys (8-3, 6-3 ICC) got multiple wins from Chance Hawbaker (100, 200) and Josh Booth (300 H, triple jump) and won two of the three relays. For the Indians (8-5, 7-3 ICC), Dristin Mellott won the 110 hurdles and pole vault. For the Tigers, Tom Peppernick won the discus with a fine toss of 157-2.

For the McConnellsburg girls (10-2, 8-2 ICC), Sam Roberts won the shot put, discus and javelin, and McKenzie Gelvin captured the 100, 400 and 800. Linsey Pryor won the triple jump and pole vault for the Indians (5-8, 3-7 ICC). Janel Becker picked up F-M's lone win, in the high jump.
