TRACK & FIELD: Thursday's roundup
INDIANS COMPETE IN TRI-MEET >> The Southern Fulton track & field team kicked off its Inter-County Conference schedule with a tri-meet against Mount Union and West Branch.
The boys swept with a dominating victory over Mount Union, 115-30, and captured a narrow win vs. West Branch, 74-71. The girls meet was tight all-around, with Southern Fulton falling to Mount Union, 78-72, and defeating West Branch, 74-71.
Chase Varner had a strong day for the boys (3-1, 2-0 ICC). He won the 1,600 and also competed on the winning 4x800 and 4x400 relays. Dristin Mellott picked up a pair of individual victories, placing first in the 110 hurdles and the pole vault.
On the girls (3-1, 1-1 ICC) side, Shaelyn Wawro won the 110 hurdles and the 200, and Celina Merchant took first in the 300 hurdles and the long jump. Both girls performed with the winning 4x4 relay.

MCCONNELLSBURG SPLITS >> McConnellsburg faced an Inter-County Conference tri-meet, and earned wins over Tussey Mountain but lost to Chestnut Ridge.
The Spartans' boys team beat Tussey, 92-56, but lost to Ridge, 84.5-64.5, while the girls earned a 95.5-43.5 win over Tussey and lost to the Lions, 82-67.
Patrick Keefer was the top performer for the boys (2-2, 2-2 ICC); individually, he won the 400 and 800, and he was the last leg of the winning 4x8 relay.
For the girls (2-2, 2-2 ICC), Michaela Kendall led the way with wins in the 1,600, the triple jump and the 4x800.
