BOYS TENNIS: Thursday's roundup


MIDDLETOWN 3, JAMES BUCHANAN 2 >> For the fifth time this season, James Buchanan's boys tennis team dropped a 3-2 Mid Penn Colonial Division match, this one to Middletown on Thursday afternoon.

"It was a good match to watch," JB coach Terri Beegle said. "We're right there; we just gotta take that next big step. After three matches this week, though, these kids are gassed. But they keep playing hard."

Chance Wishard suffered a heartbreaking defeat for the Rockets (7-7, 3-7 MPC) at No. 1 singles. After winning his first set, 6-4, he dropped the second set in an 8-6 tiebreaker then was defeated 6-3 in the decisive third.

Isaac Shenton and Matt Schofield continued their steady run at No. 1 doubles, winning 6-1, 6-3. Luke Leidy and Micah Wise also picked up their first victory, winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

"It was good for Luke and Micah to get a win," Beegle said. "They're working so hard, and they finally got through."
