H.S. soccer: Tuesday's roundup, McConnellsburg boys clinch Sideling Hill League crown


LOYSBURG >> McConnellsburg's boys soccer team closed out the regular season in fine fashion Tuesday with a dominating Sideling Hill League victory over Northern Bedford, 11-2.

Ethan Barclay paced the Spartans (17-1), who clinched the SHL title with an 11-1 mark, with his first hat trick of the season, while Jake Boehme finished with two goals and three assists. Patrick Keefer also added a pair of goals.

"It was a good way to end out the regular season," Spartan coach Cory Houck said. "I thought Ethan Barclay had a great game with the hat trick this evening. Now we're looking forward to getting some rest before playoffs on Saturday."

Landon Richards put up a goal and two assists, and Gage Henry also had a pair of helpers.

Girls soccer

NORTHERN BEDFORD 4, MCCONNELLSBURG 3 >> McConnellsburg concluded the regular season with a Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference loss to Northern Bedford.

Alexis Mellott led the Spartans (9-9, 5-3 SHL, 3-3 ICC) with a pair of goals in the first half. McKenzi Garlock also scored once, while Michaela Kendall and Hannah McGarvey each had an assist.

Kellyn Perry had nine saves for McConnellsburg.
