CARLISLE >> Carlisle made good use of a last-minute breakaway and halted a four-game win streak by the Chambersburg boys soccer team Saturday night at Millen Stadium.

The Herd intercepted a pass in the middle of the field and took off downfield. Trevor Weis passed the ball through the Trojan defense and Noah Bauer ripped it into the net with 33 seconds left to give Carlisle a 4-3 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division victory.

"It was a good through ball and the kid hit his shot upper 90; not much (goalkeeper) Chandler (Schur) could do," Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said.

The Herd (4-2, 3-2 MPC) got off to a fast start, getting goals from Alex Henry in the fourth and sixth minutes for a 2-0 lead. But by halftime, the Trojans held a 3-2 advantage.

Inigo Macias kicked in a direct kick for his first career goal, then Nathan Maynard tied the game with an unassisted tally. In the last minute of the half, Erik Espinoza passed to Rafael Bonilla, whose shot gave Chambersburg the lead.

Carlisle tied the game halfway through the second half on a penalty kick by Weis.

Grove said, "Maybe it's a little immaturity since we're young, but we've fallen behind early a couple of times. Then the boys realize they can play with them and we start playing better. This is a tough one, but we'll just have to keep our heads up and move on."
