BOYS SOCCER: Thursday's roundup, Shippensburg shuts down Big Spring, 2-0

SHIPPENSBURG >> Luke Ashberry and Matt West were involved in both goals, helping Shippensburg subdue rival Big Spring, 2-0 in a Mid Penn Colonial Division boys soccer game Thursday afternoon.

Ashberry scored in the first half on an assist by West, and in the second half, West scored with the help of Ashberry and Taha Shamshudin. The rest was up to the defense of the Greyhounds (4-2, 3-1 MPC) and Spencer McKenna made seven saves to preserve the shutout.

"We were a little flat in the first half, but we played a very good second half," Hound coach Warren Jones said. "We connected on more passes, made good runs and moved the ball around. We didn't finish on some of our shots, but West had a really nice shot for his goal."
