BOYS SOCCER: Wednesday's roundup


FANNETT-METAL 9, FORBES ROAD 2 >> The Sideling Hill League boys soccer game was scoreless for more than 25 minutes. But then Fannett-Metal exploded and went on to capture a big victory over Forbes Road.

Kyler Goshorn started the scoring for the Tigers (3-1, 2-1 SHL) with 13 minutes left in the first half, and by halftime, Fannett-Metal led 4-0. Mikell McGee and Layton Hoffmann both finished with two goals, while Goshorn and Levi Brady recorded a goal and an assist apiece.

For Forbes Road (0-3, 0-2 SHL), Lane Kendall and Aaron Schepis each had a goal.

CALVARY 3, CUMB. VALLEY CHRISTIAN 1 >> Despite taking a loss to Calvary in Mason-Dixon Christian Conference play on Tuesday, Cumberland Valley Christian saw quite a few positives.

The Blazers (2-4, 2-3 MDCC) were out-shot only 15-13 and had just two fewer corner kicks than the Eagles.

"We're finally starting to come together as a team," CVC coach Stan Hott said. "We're getting our chemistry worked out. Last night, we just had a few minor bugs that caused some errors that cost us some goals."

Eric Woo scored once for CV Christian, and Aaron Johnson and Eli Black split 12 saves evenly.
