BOYS SOCCER: Thursday's roundup, Shippensburg tops Waynesboro, 3-0

SHIPPENSBURG >> Shippensburg used some good play from its midfield to spread around the scoring and the Greyhounds handed Waynesboro a 3-0 Mid Penn Colonial Division in boys soccer on Thursday afternoon.

"We got some different goal scorers, which was nice to see and something we needed to see," Ship coach Warren Jones said. "Our midfield is doing well – Matt West is distributing the ball well, and so are Chandler Olson and Braxton Shetter."

Luke Ashberry, Kyle Negley and Ian Weikel each netted a goal for the Hounds (3-1, 2-0 MPC). West had two assists and Olson and Shetter had one each.

Goalkeeper Spencer McKenna made five saves for the shutout over the Indians (1-3, 1-1 MPC).

Jones said, "I've had to give credit to our defenders before for having some good games, but tonight I thought McKenna played well. He made two saves to stop goal-scoring chances and that was huge."
