SHIREMANSTOWN >> Chambersburg's girls lacrosse team scored the final seven goals of the game Tuesday night to steal a victory over Trinity.

Abby Wilmot scored four straight goals, Emily Glennon tied the game and Liza Ernst fired in the game-winner as the Trojans shocked the Shamrocks 14-13 in a Mid Penn Conference game at Cobo Field.

Chambersburg (4-10, 2-7 MPC) trailed 12-7 at the half, but held Trinity (2-10, 2-9 MPC) to just one goal in the second half, which came early to make it 13-7.

"The girls could easily have put their heads down at halftime, but they fought for the win," Trojan coach Katie Feairheller said. "We were able to turn it around and come through for a win. It was a team effort and we're looking forward to playing out the rest of our week."

Maddy Sollenberger scored two goals in the first half for Chambersburg and Kendyl Stewart, Ernst, Glennon, Avery Rife and Carle Covert put in one each.

Feairheller said, "We came out very slow to start and were down six goals in the first 10 minutes. The girls were jumpy and needed to settle the ball and play their game. We definitely picked up the intensity after that. We needed leaders on the field and we were able to find that.

"(Goalie) Alyssa Boock did a great job communicating and the defense (Covert, Madison Schmus, Lexi Stoner and Kaylea Garman) was able to slow them down – then Alyssa made the saves."

Once the Trojans started scoring – Ernst started it, then Wilmot scored the next four to make it 13-12 – they were able to win the draw controls to keep possession.

Feairheller said, "Ernst, Stoner, Rife and Wilmot were able to control the draws, and we needed that to set up our attack. Wilmot stepped up as a leader on attack; she saw that we needed goals and she made it happen. Our midfielders – Sollenberger, (Hayley) Simmons, Glennon, (Maggie) Nichols and Stewart worked to get open, which us get the scoring opportunities that got us back in the game."
