Cross country: Mercersburg competes in MAPL Championship

MERCERSBURG COMPETES AT MAPL CHAMPIONSHIP >> Mercersburg Academy's cross country team headed to Peddie in Hightstown, N.J., for the Mid-Atlantic Prep League Championships.

Both the boys and the girls team placed fourth overall.

For the boys, Gabriel Allgayer won the race in 16:13.33. Adam Cromwell was the Blue Storm's No. 2 runner, capturing 16th overall in 17:52.30. Following one spot behind was Chris Doyle in 17:55.48.

Kate Hastings was the top female runner for Mercersburg. Her time of 21:41.56 was good enough for 13th, while Sydney Hirokawa captured 15th in 22:23.64.

"All in all, this has been a great season, and I am so proud of how hard these young ladies have worked this season," Blue Storm girls coach Betsy Cunningham said. "They have been fabulous to get to know and to coach."
