ICC Final: SF falls to Bellwood-Antis, 60-45

CLAYSBURG - Nathan Davis was simply too much for Southern Fulton.

Davis poured in 36 points to carry Bellwood-Antis to a 60-45 victory over the Indians in the boys basketball championship game of the Inter-County Conference on Saturday evening at Claysburg-Kimmel.

Davis, a shooting guard who will play at Seton Hill next year with his brother, stuck in 12 points in the second quarter and fired in 14 in the fourth to help the Blue Devils (20-2) pull away.

SF coach Kent Hendershot said, "We went toe-to-toe with a very good team and came up short. It was a four-point game with 1:30 to go, but we couldn't put the ball in the hoop and they made their free throws."

Southern Fulton was behind by only three points, 39-37, after three periods. But Bellwood dropped in 11 of 12 foul shots in the fourth quarter and hit 16 of 19 for the game. The Indians (18-5) were just 4-for-8 at the line.

"Our execution in the second half killed us, and ultimately cost us the game," Hendershot said.

The Indians hit on 18 of 44 shot attempts (41%) and only four players hit the scoring column.

Trent Rider scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half for SF, while Zach Clark had eight of his 10 in the third quarter. Dylan Gordon scored 14 points, and had seven rebounds, two steals and three blocked shots, while Carl Potter made four assists.

Southern Fulton will host Conemaugh Township in a District 5 Class A first round playoff game Thursday.
