BOYS: Mercersburg drops consolation game

Springside Chestnut Hill 71, Mercersburg Academy 60 >> Mercersburg started slow in the consolation game of the Devils Winter Classic on Sunday, allowing the host team, Springside Chestnut Hill to gain an 11-point lead at halftime.

The Blue Storm (3-4) could not fight back to eliminate the deficit, and lost the game 71-60 to take fourth place in the eight-team tournament.

"We had a much more balanced attack today; after our slow start, we really competed well," Mercersburg coach Sean Crocker said. "We need to build on that energy as we head into league play."

Luka Sevaljevic was named to the All-Tournament Team, finishing with 16 points in the consolation game. Eli Riley and Carlos Austin each scored 13 points, while Miles Hearon had 11 for Mercersburg.
