BOYS HOOPS: Wednesday, McGee's big night not enough

FISHERTOWN - Mikell McGee scored a staggering 42 points for Fannett-Metal's boys basketball team, but it just wasn’t enough in an 86-75 Sideling Hill League loss to Chestnut Ridge on Wednesday.

“Tonight, the boys played their hearts out in the first half,” F-M coach Greg Best said. “We started the second half off slow with some missed opportunities and turnovers. They battled all game, and I am proud of them. We competed till the very end.”

The Tigers (1-3, 1-2 SHL) trailed by just four points at halftime, but the Lions outscored Fannett-Metal 31-14 in the third quarter.

In addition to being the team’s leading scorer, McGee also finished with eight assists.

Lucas Wingert had 12 points, and Sawyer Rosenberry contributed eight points and nine rebounds.
