GIRLS: Friday, Waynesboro finishes with win


Waynesboro 52, Fairfield 24:  Cat Weber tallied 11 of her 25 points in the first quarter to get Waynesboro started off on the right foot against non-league opponent Fairfield.

Weber sank a pair of 3-pointers on her way to a season-high scoring total.

The Maidens finished 7-14, which included wins in three of their final four games.

For the Green Knights, Becky Finafrock scored 10 points.

Carlisle 50, Shippensburg 45: Carlisle built up an eight-point lead by the end of the third quarter and held off Shippensburg in a non-league game Friday night.

The Lady Hounds, who out-scored the Thundering Herd 9-6 in the final period, finished with an 8-14 record.

Kara Newell led Shippensburg with 11 points, followed by Mariah Martin with 10.

For Carlisle (6-16), Kassidy Ingram tallied 20 points.
