BOYS: Greencastle rallies past 'Boro

WAYNESBORO - After finishing the first half on a seven-point run, Greencastle-Antrim's boys basketball team came out of the locker room with the idea of making a comeback against Waynesboro.

The Blue Devils did just that. They outscored the Indians 14-5 in the third quarter before claiming a 65-56 victory in Mid Penn Colonial Division action.

Waynesboro (4-13, 3-7 MPC) had led by as many as 12.

"We caught a little bit of a groove right before the end of the half," G-A coach Gary Martin said. "We found something with a little bit of defensive pressure, and we got into some good transition offense."

The teams combined for 47 points in the fourth quarter, but the Blue Devils (11-5, 7-2 MPC) held on for the win.

Four Greencastle players finished in double figures, including Bryan Gembe, who tied his season high with 21 points. Brandon Stuhler contributed 13 points, Casey Hoover scored 12 and Ian Gelsinger pocketed 10 points.

"Bryan is such a good offensive threat, and he's really been working on breaking to the basket," Martin said. "He gives himself space to get good shots off, and his release has become so much quicker."

For Waynesboro, Kyle Hoffman led the way with 17 points, and Mitch Neterer followed directly behind with 16. Cameron Keck also contributed 14 points.
