NEW OXFORD - After managing just 15 points in the opening half, Waynesboro's boys basketball team tried to make a run of it in the third quarter.

The Indians played their best ball of the night in the frame, but it wasn't enough to overcome New Oxford, which won 66-42 to claim its own tournament title Wednesday night.

Cameron Keck had a fine effort for Waynesboro (1-9). He scored a team-high 13 points and nearly posted a double-double with eight rebounds.

Mitch Neterer contributed eight points, and Dakota Rhyne scored seven. Devon Duvall scored 20 points for the Colonials.

Everett 57, Forbes Road 32 >> Turnovers proved to be a big problem for Forbes Road in a loss to Everett in the consolation game of the Claysburg-Kimmel Tournament.

“Turnovers killed us tonight; more than half of their points came from layups,” Cardinals coach Trent Black said. “We’re young, but we’re working and eventually will get there. We should have (Aaron) Schepis back for Monday, so that should help. We played hard; we just have to be more aggressive.”

Forbes Road (2-6) was even with the Warriors after the first quarter, but went on to score just 13 points over the next two frames. Everett had 16 points in both the second and third.

Brycen Hohman led the Cardinals with 10 points, and Matt Brown had seven points and five rebounds.
