One minute, Waynesboro was squarely in the driver's seat of Monday afternoon's non-league baseball game against Chambersburg.

The next, it was the Trojans who had control.

Back and forth the teams went, but it was the Indians who ended with the advantage, beating Chambersburg 10-7 to end both team's regular seasons.

"It was a scrappy game," 'Boro coach Greg Chandler said. "We kept taking their best punch and coming right back to score, then they took our best punch and came back to score."

The momentum swung in Waynesboro's favor in the bottom of the fourth inning. Chambersburg (6-14) had just gained a 5-3 lead on a two-RBI single from Chance McClure in the top half of the frame, but the Indians (15-5) immediately answered back.

Brady Riddell led off with a solo home run to left field before Cody Cline had a two-out, two-run double, and Francisco Maya was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Waynesboro led 7-5 by the end of the inning.

"Brady has been coming up clutch in a lot of these games," Cline said. "His home run today was nice and got the momentum going back in our favor."

Chambersburg did tie it back up when Carlin Christian drove in two runs with a single, but once again, Waynesboro instantly responded to set the final score.

Despite out-hitting Waynesboro, 14-8, Chambersburg struggled once again with leaving runners in scoring position. The Trojans left nine stranded.

"I think it's all mental, and when we're up there, we're doing too much," Christian said. "We're getting ahead of ourselves and trying to get out of our bodies and hit something 600 feet when no one on this team can do that consistently. It was always just thinking too much or trying to do too much."

Chambersburg coach Scott Folmar said, "We didn't make some plays that we needed to in the field, but for me, we played with energy and emotion. We didn't come out on top in the end, but it made a big difference throughout the game. We battled a bit, and we stayed in the game."

NOTES: Christian was the top hitter for the Trojans, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs ... Hunter Brindle also had three hits and two RBIs, and Hayden Kissel, Kaden Hoover and Kevin Carbaugh each had a pair. ... For Waynesboro, Riddell finished with two hits and three RBIs, while Cline and Kyle Hoffman each drove in two runs.
