SOFTBALL: 7 locals tabbed to Mid Penn Conference first teams
Seven local softball players were honored with first-team nods when the Mid Penn Conference released its All-Star teams on Tuesday.
Greencastle-Antrim, James Buchanan and Shippensburg each boasted a pair of players on the Colonial Division First Team. Ally Brown and Brooke Zeger were the top dogs for the Blue Devils, while Courtney Coy and Morgan Fetter were both selected from the Lady Hounds. Taryn Miller and Shania Fogelsonger were both first-team selections for the Rockets.
In the Commonwealth Division, Chambersburg's Chelsea Sommerville earned a first-team nomination. Fellow Trojans Lily Nolan and Tara Harmon were named to the second team, and Leah Hunt and Laken Myers both earned honorable mentions.
Waynesboro's only all star was Nicole Kreimer, who was named to the Colonial Division Second Team. Joining her were Greencastle's Katie Gelsinger and Morgan Wagaman, Shippensburg's Nicole Baker and Lexi Wolfe and James Buchanan's Jennae Piper and Nina Shatzer.
Local honorable mentions in the Colonial Division were Liz Ward, Jess Root and Erin Bontrager, all of Greencastle; James Buchanan's Charity Miller and Brooke Pittman; and Kayla Carbaugh, of Shippensburg.
