GREENCASTLE >> It took nearly three quarters of the season, but Greencastle-Antrim ace pitcher Myles Gayman finally got in the win column on Wednesday.

The Blue Devil junior tossed 5 1/3 innings of shutout baseball to help Greencastle beat James Buchanan 8-0 in a Mid Penn Colonial Division game.

"We hit well and took care of business," said Blue Devil coach Eric Shaner. "It set us up for a big game against Shippensburg on Friday."

Gayman (1-2) was lights out against the Rockets (3-10, 1-6 MPC), giving up just three hits and striking out nine. He did have six walks, though.

"Myles is just starting to find his groove," Shaner said. "He really started to settle down toward the end of his outing."

Greencastle (9-5, 5-2 MPC) scored eight runs on seven hits. Quin Ambeault finished 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Matt Kline was also 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Derek Measell also had a double and drove in two runs.

For JB, Jared Pine, Aaron Nagy and Josh Brand each had a single.

NORTHERN BEDFORD 5, FORBES ROAD 1 >> Forbes Road rebounded after a rough loss to Everett, but it still wasn't enough to defeat Sideling Hill League/Inter-County Conference foe Northern Bedford.

"We gave a much better effort tonight, but we gave them three unearned runs," Forbes Road coach Randy Gelvin. "It's kind of what we've been doing all year long. Until we tighten up on defense, we're going to continue to struggle."

Matt Brown led the Cardinals (3-11, 3-10 SHL, 2-10 ICC) with two hits, including an RBI triple in the first inning. Brycen Hohman (1-3) took a tough loss on the mound, giving up just six hits in a complete-game performance.

"Brycen pitched a nice game. He pitched well enough to win," Gelvin said.
