SHIPPENSBURG >> Northern York took a 1-0 lead over Shippensburg in a non-league baseball game on Monday, but Greyhound starting pitcher Cordell Shannon was in control throughout the contest.
Shannon didn't allow a hit until there was one out in the seventh inning, and the Hounds finally broke through with three runs in the fifth to pull out a 4-1 win. Shannon walked just one batter, but Shippensburg (10-3, 6-1) totaled three errors, which allowed the Polar Bears to take a brief lead in the fifth inning. Shannon finished with six strikeouts.
"Cordell came out, was efficient, kept the ball down and threw strikes," Ship coach Nate Rosenberry said. "He threw a heck of a game."
Daulton Brenize finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Job Kitzmiller was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Cole Friese also drove in a run for Shippensburg.
Rosenberry said, "We played well enough to win today, and we were able to recover when we made a few mistakes. We found a way to win against a quality team."

CAMP HILL 6, JAMES BUCHANAN 2 >> For the second straight game, James Buchanan suffered an extra-inning defeat.
Camp Hill scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to capture a non-league victory.
"Remi (Spoonhour) threw an outstanding game for us," Rocket coach Scott Folmar said. "It was by far his longest and best outing all year, and he did a fantastic job."
In the top of the ninth, Camp Hill had one out before getting a base hit. JB (3-9) then walked two in a row and hit a batter. Matt Ketterer then came up with a big single to plate a pair of runs for the Lions.
"Offensively, again, we had several opportunities throughout the game where if we could've come up with one base hit, we could've won it," Folmar said. "We had guys in scoring position in the seventh, and again in the eighth, we could've scored. But Camp Hill is a good team."
Michael McCartney led the Rockets by going 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Aaron Nagy was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

WAYNESBORO 11, MILTON HERSHEY 1 >> Waynesboro played a strong all-around to defeat Milton Hershey in non-league action.
The Indians (6-8) racked up nine hits, including two apiece from Cody Cline, Sawyer Duffey and Zach Stultz.
Stultz also had a fine effort on the mound. He fired a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks. Milton Hershey's only run was unearned.

GREENWOOD 9, FANNETT-METAL 8 >> Despite trailing 7-1 after three innings, Fannett-Metal clawed its way back in the game but couldn't quite complete a rally in a non-league loss to Greenwood.
The Tigers (1-13) tied it at 8-8 before Greenwood made a gutsy move, successfully stealing home in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
"It was an exciting game, and the most exciting game we've played all year," F-M coach Kory Miller said. "We were proud of the kids for battling back and making a game out of it."
Dalton Friese drove in three runs to pace the Tigers.

SOUTHERN FULTON 12-12, NORTHERN BEDFORD 5-1 >> Southern Fulton scored 12 runs in each game of a Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference doubleheader to hand Northern Bedford a pair of defeats.
"Our bats are still pretty hot," SF coach Dustin Fischer said. "We're getting a lot of line drives, and the kids are realizing they don't have to swing for the fence. Hits lead to more hits, and the team is playing a lot better baseball now."
In the first game, Robbie McCusker led the way for the Indians (13-2, 11-1 SHL, 9-1 ICC) with three hits, including a grand slam in the third inning. Dillan Lashley went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Tristan Douglas finished with two singles and four RBIs.
Connor Litton earned the win in the second game by scattering five hits in the five-inning victory. He struck out 10, walked three and allowed only one run.
Dylan Gordon was 4-for-4 with four RBIs, while Carl Potter and Zach Clark both finished 2-for-3. Potter plated a pair of runs.
