H.S. SPORTS: P.O. Honor Roll


SETH CARBAUGH, James Buchanan wrestling: At 195 pounds, Carbaugh went 5-1 at the Trojan Wars, with his only loss coming in sudden victory (3-1) against the eventual champion. He won four straight consolation bouts to take third place.

IAN CHEATLE, McConnellsburg boys basketball: Cheatle scored 16 points in the second half alone in an attempt to lift the Spartans over the Maryland School for the Deaf in the first round of the Fannett-Metal Christmas Tournament, and added another 8 in a consolation win over the host team.

CHELSEA COVER, Waynesboro girls basketball: Cover racked up 23 points to lead the Maidens to a championship victory at the Biglerville Tournament over the host Canners. She also had an 11-point performance in the opening game against Steel-High.

MCKENZIE GELVIN, Forbes Road girls basketball: Gelvin had a big game against Belleville Mennonite, racking up 24 points to lead the Cardinals to a victory. Gelvin has scored double figures in all but one game this season.

JACOB GREENWOOD, Chambersburg boys swimming: Greenwood won two individual races at the Bulldog Invitational, and was a part of two relay wins to push Chambersburg boys to victory in the final event of the meet.

LYDIA HARRIS, Shalom Christian girls basketball: Harris had a big hand in the Flames' championship victory at the Christian School of York Tournament. She scored 13 points in the opening game, then stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, four steals and three assists in the title game.

CASEY HOOVER, Greencastle-Antrim boys basketball: Hoover was named the Richard E. Doub Classic Tournament MVP after a 17-point performance against Williamsport, Md. in the championship game. Hoover scored 16 and collected seven steals in the Blue Devils' first-round win over Broadfording.

CIRSTEN KELLY, Chambersburg indoor track: Kelly won the girls 300-meter dash in 43.75 to break her own school indoor record at the Mountain Express Holiday Indoor Track & Field Invitational Saturday. She also finished second in the 55 dash.

KYLE LEE, James Buchanan wrestling: Lee had a fine effort at 138 pounds this week at the Trojan Wars. He racked up four pins, finished with a 5-1 record and captured third place.

LAKEN ROUZER, Waynesboro wrestling: Rouzer lost his first match but then won five straight to take third place at 113 pounds in the Buckskin Classic Wrestling Tournament at Conestoga Valley.

SETH RUNSHAW, Chambersburg wrestling: Runshaw placed third in the Trojan Wars at 106 pounds after going 4-1. He claimed two pins and earned a narrow 1-0 decision over Doug Zapf, of Downingtown, in the third-place match.

SPENCER RUNSHAW, Chambersburg wrestling: Runshaw captured third in the 113-pound bracket at the Trojan Wars. He was 4-1 in the tournament and defeated Chase Mader, of Lower Dauphin, 6-3 in the third-place match.

JONAH STAINS, Shalom Christian boys basketball: Stains led the Fannett-Metal Christmas Tournament champions with 24 points in the first round, scoring 14 in the third quarter alone, to push the Flames over the host team. Stains went on to score 10 points in the championship game.

CADE WHITFIELD, Chambersburg boys basketball: Whitfield scored a career-high 22 points over South Western in the first round of the Gettysburg Tournament, and scored 18 points and had 5 rebounds in the championship game. He was named to the All-Tournament Team.
