YAIAA highlights: Shimmel tosses no-hitter

The opening day for spring sports for YAIAA teams did not disappoint as the athletes took the field and court for the first time this season.

From a no-hitter to a 10 goal and seven assist performance, many athletes across the league showed no signs of rust and put on mid-season performances.

In Eastern York's 12-0 road win over Columbia, Colby Shimmel stuck out as the top performance of the day as he put on a show from the mound in a no-hitter performance.

Shimmel gave his defense the night off as he recorded all 15 outs in the mercy-rule reduced game by strikeout. His one walk kept him from perfection. He also did some damage from the plate as he had a double with a run driven in and two runs scored.

Here are the rest of the top performers from around the YAIAA.
