The streak is over.

The York Catholic girls' basketball team saw its run for 11-straight District 3 Class AA championships end with a 54-40 loss to Camp Hill Thursday night at Giant Center in the 2016 title game.

The Lions just had a bit more firepower than the Irish on this evening. Leah Springer was a force to be reckoned with, finishing with 31 points while point guard Diamond Bragg finished with just seven points although ran the show to perfection. As for the Irish, Kate Bauhof led the way with 26 points although got little help outside of that.

Speaking of championships, Erica Sarver of West York High School won her second straight District 3 Class AA girls' swimming championship this past week at Big Spring High School.

With that, vote for Sarver or any other student athlete that's eligible for this week's YAIAA Girls' Athlete of the Week award. Polls close at 5 p.m. Monday.
