Gifs: YAIAA Friday night hoops

After the snow kept a lot of games from taking place in the past week, basketball was back in full swing on Friday night. There were plenty of great ones to chose from, so here are a few highlights from around the YAIAA.

D'Andre Davis came up big for York Catholic, who defeated Hanover and captured the Division III crown outright on Friday. Davis finished the game with 17 points, with 10 of those coming in the second quarter to help break a 20-20 tie and sent York Catholic into halftime with a nine point lead. By the end of the night the Fighting Irish had taken the game 65-51.

It was a milestone night for William Penn's Trey Shifflett. The senior become the latest YAIAA basketball player to reach the 1,000 career points mark in the third quarter against Central York. Shifflet ended the night with 13 points for the Bearcats, but....

It wasn't enough to hold off Jared Wagner and the Panthers from leaving William Penn with a win. The Panthers swept the regular season series and clinched the Division I title all in the same night. Wagner lead the team with 17 points in the 61-50 win.

Gary Hunt had 20 points for Red Lion on Friday against Spring Grove, and 12 of those came in the second quarter which was capped with a buzzer beater (seen above). Despite that it wasn't enough for the Lions to beat the Rockets and they ultimately fell 60-51.
