The surprise story of the 2015-16 high school girls' basketball season? One could make the argument it's the William Penn Bearcats. Some could say in a runaway.

This is a squad that went 7-15 last season and ??? last year. With that being said, the team currently sits at 8-6 in 2015-16, pocketed an upset win last week over Central York and then topped Littlestown. On Friday evening, the Bearcats were in the hunt against undefeated Red Lion — holding a lead at one point in the third quarter — before ultimately falling on the road.

Clearly, William Penn is a team to keep an eye on moving forward into the new year.
