Vote: YAIAA Girls’ Athlete of the Week

It was a monster game in YAIAA girls’ basketball on Friday night, when Central York visited Red Lion.

Each squad figures to be jostling for position atop the YAIAA Division I standings throughout the season, and entered the weekend showdown with identical 6-0 records — Central was 4-0 against Division I competition while Red Lion stood at 3-0.

Yet it was the Lions that led throughout on their home floor, taking down the Panthers 46-37 to remain unbeaten.

The Panthers turned the ball over five times in the opening 4 1/2 minutes of their YAIAA Division I battle of unbeaten teams, and Red Lion raced out to the first eight points.

Central York got as close as three points in the second quarter but ultimately fell.
